Brazilian Society of Parasitology – SBP

The Brazilian Society of Parasitology (SBP) was founded in July 1965 and will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee in 2025, marking 60 years since its establishment. Legally registered as the “Brazilian Technical-Scientific Society of Parasitology SBP,” it is a non-profit civil organization that brings together parasitologists from Brazil and other countries. SBP is affiliated with the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), the Latin American Federation of Parasitology (FLAP), and the World Federation of Parasitology (WFP).

Recognized as being of public utility, this society aims to stimulate research and technological development in the fields of Medical, Veterinary, and Agricultural Parasitology.

In addition to promoting scientific events, SBP holds the important Brazilian Congress of Parasitology every two years. This event gathers professionals, undergraduate and graduate students from Brazil and abroad who work in parasitology across its various branches—infectious diseases, epidemiology, pharmacy, biomedicine, biology, medicine, veterinary medicine, clinical analysis laboratories, epidemiological surveillance services, management, and health policies related to the country’s diverse healthcare services, Research Institutions, and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), as well as the industrial sector. It aims to expand knowledge boundaries and seek advancements and solutions for the main parasitic diseases affecting Brazil and the Americas. Through the exchange of experiences and sharing of scientific discoveries and advancements, SBP has also contributed to the development of prevention and control alternatives in the epidemiological surveillance sector in our country.

The Journal of Tropical Pathology – RPT/Journal of Tropical Pathology (ISSN 1980-8178) disseminates knowledge in the field of agents and vectors of transmissible diseases in living organisms and their impact on public health. It is published by the Institute of Tropical Pathology and Public Health of the Federal University of Goiás and is the official journal of the Brazilian Society of Parasitology. The journal publishes four issues annually, along with thematic supplements, featuring articles exclusively in English. This is the RPT website: https://revistas.ufg.br/iptsp.

The History Behind PARASITO 2025

The official brand of the 29th Brazilian Congress of Parasitology was developed based on four fundamental premises: to convey the energy of Salvador, to use a vibrant color palette, to establish a visual identity with the host city, and at the same time, to symbolically represent parasitology. From this creative process emerged a visually striking brand, composed of vivid colors — purple, teal blue, and yellow-orange — which evoke the cultural diversity and vitality of Salvador, the host city of the commemorative congress marking the 60th anniversary of the Brazilian Society of Parasitology. The wavy shapes that make up the logo refer to parasite structures and incorporate contours from the topographic map of the city of Salvador. Thus, the brand integrates science, art, and territory into a visual identity that celebrates the convergence of tradition and innovation in the field of parasitology.
